On October 7, I walked in Berlin
between the walls,
of the monument of death,
a memory bound in the bond of life,
with the souls of Abraham and all inhabitants
in the Garden of Eden
A recorded voice
wafting through the wet autumn air
recounted the story of monument’s
creation, in German and English
next to the high stone blocks,
clad in dark clouds’ colour
My left ear stuck to the grey walls
I listened
to the screaming silence
as I watch the daylight unable to descend
amid the walls,
in the space depleted of air,
like dark tunnels
filled with the dense emptiness
of ghosts, nameless lost lives
and not even one bird
was flying by…
