On October 7, I walked in Berlin

between the walls,

of the monument of death,

a memory bound in the bond of life,

with the souls of Abraham and all inhabitants

in the Garden of Eden

A recorded voice

wafting through the wet autumn air

recounted the story of monument’s

creation, in German and English

next to the high stone blocks,

clad in dark clouds’ colour

My left ear stuck to the grey walls

I listened

to the screaming silence

as I watch the daylight unable to descend

amid the walls,

in the space depleted of air,

like dark tunnels

filled with the dense emptiness

of ghosts, nameless lost lives

and not even one bird

was flying by…
