Tragedy
And the thing they don’t tell you
about a national tragedy
is that the personal tragedies don’t cease
her son’s untimely passing,
his grandpa’s terminal diagnosis,
lights blinking on and off,
each one suffering
alone in the dark
and the nation
heaves
And it hits me
like the bombs
they have 90 seconds
to run from:
that maybe
he’ll never
live to see
peace.
